After all shouldn't friends be more important than that little hobby? IsolationWorking alone for eight or more hours per day might produce isolated feelings that make most climb up the wall. Many people working at home miss the interaction with co-workers that makes the day move along faster. MotivationThe successful business owner seems to have an internal coach who keeps them on track to finish work assignments. Those who can't wait to get up and going in the morning and are filled with enthusiasm for their work often succeed. Those who lack drive and strong willpower to push ahead will certainly find it difficult operating a business at home. StaffA staff would be great. But in the beginning most owners will not have the money to hire a full time staff to handle all the mundane tasks that must be completed. The owner will handle answering telephone calls, developing sales strategy, marketing, advertising, bookkeeping, PR work, and typical office functions. CamaraderieHome based business owners miss the friendship connection. Work is the place where many people make long time friends, associates, and even network up the success ladder. Too Many DistractionsThe television is a step away. The stereo is nearby, telephone constantly ringing, family problems, all interrupting the business owner's busy day. No BenefitsNew entrepreneurs lose work related medical coverage, insurance, and pension plans to name a few. No Regular PaycheckOwners might struggle for months, even years before they make a steady income. Is starting a business really worth giving up that regular paycheck? The BossNew business owners make all the important decisions. All problems rest on their shoulders and it will be impossible to leave work related problems at the office because the office is in their home! These are just a few of the disadvantages many new home based business owners face. If your goal is entrepreneurship don't let these issues deter you. Many business owners see these obstacles and conquer them with hard work and perseverance.
