When setting up a home or small office, business owners can save money by using one of the online free fax services instead of purchasing a fax machine.

Free fax services are convenient and cost effective. In addition to saving on the cost of purchasing a fax machine, individuals have the flexibility of sending faxes from any location. No longer does a business owner have to wait until she gets to the office to send a fax. She can send a fax from her laptop or mobile device of choice.

Here are a few online services one can use to send free faxes:

FreePopfax.com

With Free Pop Fax users have the option of composing the fax message online by typing the information directly in the textbox on the Free Pop Fax web page, or they can upload files for sending. While FreePopfax does support various file types such as .doc, .pdf, .jpg, .tiff, .png and .gif formats, they have a disclaimer on their site that states they will only send the first page of the document. Therefore, it might work better to copy and paste the text of the document into the text box rather than send a pdf document that will only transmit the first page.

VIFInternet.com

VIF Internet is a free faxing service for those interested in sending faxes in and around the Montreal, Canadian area.

FaxZero.com

Fax Zero limits the number of free faxes on any given day to a maximum of 2 three-page faxes. If the 2 fax, 3-page restriction is too limiting, users can opt for their premium service at the cost of $1.99 per fax. With the premium service, the per page minimum jumps to 15 pages and there is no limit on the number of faxes per day. Fax Zero's system supports word .doc and .pdf files but they limit it to one attachment per fax.

TPC.int

TPC allows users to use the TPC online interface or the flexibility of sending a fax via email using a properly formatted email address. This convenient service is not available everywhere so users are encouraged to review the coverage area page on the TPC site before learning how to format an email for faxing.

Freefax.com

Free Fax encourages users to become a member of their site. While membership is not a requirement, it is recommended. Members enjoy convenient features such as speed dialing, customized fax sheets, virtual faxing (which means users can receive faxes via email) and more.

How They Remain Free

These sites are able to offer free faxing services because they make their money from advertising. Some earn money through ads on the web site while others earn through placing ads on the faxes and fax cover page.

These free fax services are convenient for business owners and individuals who send faxes occasionally. It is not recommended, however, for users that send a high volume of faxes daily.
