It's a tough and time consuming job to find blogs that provide helpful, relevant, and workable solutions for small business, so start with Small Business Brief.

Here a blog. There a blog. Everywhere - everyone blogs. How do you keep up with all the good blogs and eliminate wasting time on the bad? Go blog surfing by reading the reviews.

Blogging Review

There are hundreds of blogs online for small business owners to log onto and get new ideas and fresh perspectives. The Small Business Brief blog at smallbusinessbrief.com is like a holding house for several other blogs such as Ad Sales, Affiliate Marketing, email marketing, Sales Tactics, Direct Marketing, Finance and Legal, Website Development, Social Media Marketing and Other Marketing and Sales.

The site uses a dog clipart for its logo and uses canine related terms such as “Fetching the Best Small Business News”. Users can log on and read the blogs without registering. If a user wants to provide feedback or comment, they have to register. It is an easy registration form and takes just a short time to complete. Users can also upload a photo of themselves to display with their profile.

There is a newsletter bloggers can sign up for and it gets emailed to them. There is a Live section to participate in a chat room. A Small Business Ideas Forum is also available for reading or submitting ideas and solutions.

Blog Features

Postings can be sorted by Top Blogs Today, Recently Popular, Yesterday, Week, Month, or Hall of Fame. When a user registers, the site will compile stats for the user such as how many comments the user has left, how many news items they have ‘fetched’, friends list and a list of those bloggers that has the user listed as a friend.

The postings seem focused to the topic and many provide real world ideas and information.

Small Business Brief Blog Drawbacks

Three items of issue --- there is not a help feature to explain some of the slang used by the site creators, there is not a mission statement to let bloggers know what they can expect from the blog postings or to set parameters for what not to post, etc. And, some of the feedback is well over a year old. One final issue, be it good or bad, there is advertising on the site.

Blog as a Resource

For small businesses looking for that latest in small business news, expert advice and best practices, the Small Business Brief site is loaded with postings about every aspect of small business. It is easy to navigate but is missing a statement of purpose or an About section. For the time and effort, it is a good blog to bookmark and watch.
