The South is known as the Bible Belt of the United States. This area has many churches and holds places high value on Christian beliefs. Families often look for child care that is Christ-centered in both curriculum and activities. Operating a day care center out of a home or out of a few rooms in a church can help parents fill this need while ensuring that the individual has an active business.

If a person has medical and/or business skills she may be able to use it to run a home health company. Professionals who work in home health provide essential healthcare for patients in their homes. A home health company can provide services for the city areas of the South. A person considering opening a home health company should consider working in the rural areas of the South where certain health care options are limited. The fact that there is less business competition in these areas can ensure a successful business for a person while offering essential services.

Rural areas often lack professionals that can provide these essential services. This is a business could be run from a home office to cut down on overhead costs.

Southern cooking is one of the hallmarks of the South. Opening a mom and pop restaurant that specialized in Southern style cooking could be a lucrative business opportunity. A traditional Southern atmosphere can be created by providing rocking chairs for customers to sit in while they wait for a seat. Provide homemade quilts to provide warmth during chilly days and evenings. Staff can wear cowboy boots and straw hats. Country music playing in the back ground and gingham curtains and tablecloths and good word of mouth advertisement can ensure that a business is a success.

Home School Teacher

Persons who have the skills to teach can impact the education of a child home schooling children. Build a business catered towards parents who want their children to grow academically in a home setting. Teaching certification is not needed to home school a child. Parents however, may require that teachers have a college degree. Advertising services through churches and other organizations can garner customers for the business.

Making use of the needs of rural areas in the South can help a person find a business to start and run. Remembering to take in consideration the culture and unique aspects of the South will ensure that a person’s business will get off to a good start. Good planning and hard work will guarantee the success of the business endeavor.
