Developing health habits can help busy entrepreneurs reduce stress and become healthier individuals.

Small business owners tend to do a lot of sitting, especially when their businesses involve a lot of paperwork and online conferences and telephone calls. All of that sedentary behavior can be very unhealthy, especially if the business causes a lot of stress. Luckily, there are several wellness tips that will help even the busiest entrepreneur improve his or her habits and to live a healthier lifestyle.

Wellness Tips - Meet and Walk

It is easy to reach for the phone to discuss a problem or to brainstorm ideas with another business owner or a partner. However, if this person is nearby, setting a meeting in the park or even at a school track allows both parties to exercise as they talk. More formal negotiations or discussions can be held on a golf course, which still allows them to move around and get some exercise.

Healthy Work at Home Habits - Pack a Lunch

Small business owners who work from home often simply head to the fridge to graze when they are hungry. When they don’t find something to whet their appetite, they often reach for the phone to have a meal delivered. Both of these options tend to be heavy on calories and rarely provide balanced meals. There is a simple solution to this problem. Entrepreneurs who have a home office can simply pack a bag lunch as if they’re heading out to work each morning.

Become More Energized- Put a Treadmill in the Corner

Sometimes, it can be tough to head out to the gym after a full day of work, even if the work was done from the home office. Setting up a piece of exercise equipment in one corner of the office reminds even the busiest business owner to get in a little exercise that day. It is much easier to jump on the treadmill during a very long winded conference call than it is to get to the gym that evening.

Stay Hydrated- Add a Water Cooler to the Room

One of the simplest ways to improve health and to become more energized is to drink more water throughout the day. With the new grocery store trend of offering refillable three and five gallon bottles of water for people to use with water dispensers, stay hydrated in offices that don’t have running water has become much, much easier.

With a little ingenuity and creativity, any small business owner can find a few wellness tips to fit his or her busy lifestyle. Even small changes, such as starting to do exercises in a chair, can be the beginning of a longer, healthier life.
